2017 Top San Diego Real Estate Agents

Saturday evening was awards night for real estate agents in San Diego County. It was the annual Recognition of Excellence to recognize the top real estate agents in San Diego County. Put on by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors “SDAR” in partnership with The San Diego Union Tribune it was a night to remember. The event was held at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar in Carmel Valley and was an excellent venue for this premier San Diego real estate event.

The Lewis Team was honored to have 2 of its team members receive awards at this event. Shylia Alarcon received the Gold Individual Award for individuals selling at least $25-$49 Million in sales or 25 units sold. Congratulations Shylia for your dedication and hard work on The Lewis Team to do such a high volume of transactions. When Shylia was asked about the award she said, I love helping my clients with their real estate needs, it’s about helping people, that’s what drives me. 

Dawn Lewis with The Lewis Team won the highest award given to an individual real estate agent, the Platinum Individual Award. This award recognizes agents that sell at least $50 Million in sales or at least 50 units sold. Dawn Lewis is the team leader of The Lewis Team which finished the year just under 100 transactions in 2016. The Lewis Team is a 4 agent San Diego Real Estate Team in San Diego County. Dawn has been a licensed agent since 1989 working both in the new home sales community and resale. Dawn said, I owe my success to my incredible team, Mike, Shylia, Lindsay, Jennifer and Deorah for making this possible and my clients who give me so much joy in doing what I love to do. The 2016 Recognition of Excellence Awards was hosted by two local San Diego Icons, Aloha Taylor and Bill Walton. Aloha Taylor is the Weather Anchor at Fox Channel 5 in San Diego and by far the most recognizable meteorologist in San Diego. Bill Walton is a former professional NBA Basketball Player and Basketball Legend.

Who is Bill Walton – from Wikipedia

Walton was born in La Mesa, California, the son of Gloria Anne (née Hickey) and William Theodore "Ted" Walton. His listed adult playing height was 6 feet 11 inches; it has been reported that Walton is actually taller (7 feet 2 inches, or more), but does not like being categorized as a seven-footer.

He played high school basketball at Helix High School. At age 17, Walton played for the United States men's national basketball team at the 1970 FIBA World Championship. He played college basketball for John Wooden at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 1971 to 1974, winning the national title in 1972 over Florida State and again in 1973 with an 87–66 win over Memphis State in which Walton made 21 of 22 field goal attempts and scored 44 points, representing more than half his team's total points.

The Walton-led 1971–72 UCLA basketball team had a record of 30–0, in the process winning its games by an average margin of more than 30 points. He was the backbone of two consecutive 30–0 seasons and was also part of UCLA's NCAA men's basketball record 88-game winning streak. The UCLA streak contributed to a personal winning streak that lasted almost five years, in which Walton's high school, UCLA freshman (freshmen were ineligible for the varsity at that time), and UCLA varsity teams did not lose a game from the middle of his junior year of high school to the middle of his senior year in college.

Walton was the 1973 recipient of the James E. Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in the United States. Walton also received the USBWA College Player of the Year and Naismith College Player of the Year as the top college basketball player in the country three years in a row while attending UCLA, at the same time earning Academic All-American honors three times. Some college basketball historians rate Walton as the greatest who ever played the game at the college level.[7] In Walton's senior year during the 1973–74 season, the school's 88-game winning streak ended with a 71–70 loss to Notre Dame. During the same season, UCLA's record seven consecutive national titles was broken when North Carolina State defeated the Bruins 80–77 in double overtime in the NCAA semi-finals. With Walton's graduation in 1974 and legendary Bruin coach John Wooden's retirement after UCLA's 1975 national title, the UCLA dynasty came to an end.

Bill Walton gave an incredible inspiration talk about his career and the 3 people that inspired him most in life. It was awesome as much as it was inspiring. Bill is a true San Diego Ambassador and spokesman for San Diego.

Bought a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $350K in Otay Ranch Village 1, Chula Vista, CA.

When first contacting Dawn she immediately connected us with a loan officer to get us prequalified.  Within a week we were out looking for a home.  We were on a time frame due to the fact my husband was being medically discharged from the Navy and we had to be out of housing.  She explained that   the homes we were looking at were short sales and that the time frame was going to be long.  She was able to set up an arrangement for us to rent a property short term. Buying your first home is overwhelming enough but when the added time crunch we were working with was added, it seemed impossible at times.  At anytime, I could call Dawn and get that reassurance that things were moving in the right direction.  If Dawn was unable to show us homes, Shylia would be ready to pick up where Dawn left off.  I am very happy with my choice to have Dawn Lewis and Team help us purchase our first home.

Bought a home in 2012 in Otay Ranch, Chula Vista, CA 91913.

My husband and I found Dawn Lewis & Shylia Alarcon of "New Dawn Realty" through a referral from a friend who had recently purchased a home with Dawn's help. We were renting a home and our lease was due to end in about 4 months when we began our search.  I was unsure if we would be able to find a   home within our short time frame that we had. 

I gave Dawn a call and she quickly got us started on the right track to finding our dream home.  Dawn had us meet immediately with a great Lender who quickly pre-qualified us for our home purchase.  After the pre-qualification, we were driving around looking at homes the very next day with them!  

Dawn and Shylia were very patient with my husband and I, with our different needs and taste.  We had particular things we really wanted in our "forever home" and they were great about helping us find what we wanted.  The market at the time we started looking was very difficult with so many short sales and not many traditional sales out there and a very small inventory at that.   But even though the market was tough and many of them became bidding wars, Dawn and Shylia kept on fighting for us until we found our home.  

Just a couple months into our search we found our perfect home.  Shylia and Dawn spent a lot of time working for us and helping to get our offer get accepted on the home we wanted.  Once our offer was accepted on the traditional sale home, we were able to close escrow in record time!  New Dawn Realty has been a God-send for us.  They were there for us from day one and as much as I think we might have driven them crazy at times, they still stuck by us. :) They showed us many homes and were very quick on making offers on the homes we were interested in.

Rancho Penasquitos House Value Check

Rancho Penasquitos is a community at the juncture of Highway 56 and Highway 15, east of highway 15 and north and south of Highway 56. Known as the 56 Corridor in San Diego this is a wonderful master planned community in the Poway School District. Rancho Penasquitos is zip code 92109. It’s located south of 4SRanch, east of Sabre Springs and Carmel Mountain Ranch, north of Mira Mesa and west of Carmel Valley and Torrey Highlands.

Peñasquitos means little cliffs in Spanish. Rancho Peñasquitos is named after the first Mexican land grant, Rancho Santa Maria de Los Peñasquitos. It’s called “PQ” for short by us locals. There are many nice neighborhoods in a hilly setting and since the community has been there since the 1970’s and 1980’s there’s lots of mature landscaping and large trees. It’s a very picturesque area. The main shopping area is the Rancho Penasquitos Towne Center with a Vons grocery store, Right Aid, restaurants and shopping. This area also has one of the best Christmas Lights or Holiday Lights shows in San Diego County called Christmas Card Lane. This is by Oviedo Street off of Black Mountain Road west of Black Mountain Middle School.
