Chula Vista has 26 homes for sale under $200,000. I searched the Chula Vista MLS today, January 14, 2009 and was pleasantly surprised to see that homes have become so affordable in Chula Vista. The homes were single family detached homes and came up in a search in Chula Vista Zip Codes 91910, 91911, 91913, 91914, and 91915. They ranged in price from $120,000 to $199,900 and varied in square footage between 696 square feet to 1,746 square feet. They had anywhere from 2 to 4 bedrooms and some of the homes had some great upgrades and yards.

First time home buyers wanting to buy a home in Chula Vista under $200,000 should seriously take a look at what’s available. The interest rates are low and this could be the time to jump in and get that home you have always dreamed about. There are also many condos on the market in Chula Vista but if you can afford a single family home you wouldn’t have to worry about the fees that condo associations have. First of all Chula Vista is the second largest city in San Diego County. It is also one of the most beautiful. Areas like EastLake have been voted Best Master Planned Community in San Diego County for 10 years running. That means better than any master planned community even coastal communities. I think that says quite a bit. I would question if the author has ever even been to Chula Vista. He notes that it’s between San Diego and Tijuana Mexico and that it’s usually in the news for border tensions. Chula Vista isn’t even on the border. That’s San Ysidro and Otay Mesa. The picture the author used for Chula Vista isn’t even Chula Vista. I think this guy needs to be writing for a much smaller audience or learn a little more about writing a story that is accurate.

I take an offense to this because I live in Chula Vista and have for over 10 years. I have seen this area grow into a gem. I guess the question is, is Chula Vista boring and should it be in the top 10 for boring American cities. Absolutely not! It’s in San Diego County and has some of the best weather in the country. It has a 10 minute drive or less to the beaches of Coronado and the Silver Strand. It’s a 20 minute drive to Downtown San Diego the finest city in America. It’s a 2 hour drive to skiing in the mountains. It’s a 1.5 hour drive to the deserts for some of the greatest off-roading in the country. As for Chula Vista itself it is one of the best communities in the country to live and raise a family. It has lakes, fishing, hiking, biking, mountains, great parks, third largest mall in California, CORRacing - Championship Off Road Racing, The Olympic Training Center, lots of Golf Courses, EastLake Community Church, possible new home of the San Diego Chargers Football Team and much, much more. Maybe we’re not in the news and that’s probably because it is a great place to live with low crime and the problems that many other cities have. Forbes you really got it wrong. I could recommend a few journalism schools for the author.
