Clairemont is an older San Diego community with the majority of homes built in the 1950’s. Clairemont is located just one community in from the coast and sits high on a mesa which makes Clairemont a very desirable place to live. The 5 areas of Clairemont are known as, Bay Park, Bay Ho, Clairemont Mesa East, Clairemont Mesa West and North Clairemont. Over the past several years Clairemont has had a rebirth of sorts. There are many homes changing hands and many of the older homes have been purchased and flipped and in many cases very nice remodels that have had San Diego home buyers looking in Clairemont very excited about buying a home here.

For many years 4520 Pocahontas Avenue San Diego, CA 92117 was the home of Horizon Christian Academy Elementary School. Located in Bay Ho this was a popular private Christian school which my daughter went to. This location is now the future home of new homes in Bay Ho being built by CalAtlantic Homes. The Clairemont new home community is called Tavara Ridge and is going to be a very nice edition to Bay Ho. Since my wife and I live in Bay Ho we decided to take the dog for a walk over to the new home community location and have a look around. Earth movers and heavy equipment are behind the fence and things look like it’s scraped and ready for homes. Quite a large piece of land with a potential of quite a few new home lots. From what I’ve read there will be 52 single family detached homes built in Tavara Ridge. The sign says that the square footage of these new homes in Clairemont will range from 2,875 to 3,196 square feet and have between 4 to 5 bedrooms and 3 to 3.5 bathrooms. These are some large homes when you compare most homes in this area of Clairemont being 2 to 3 bedroom single story homes about 1,000 square feet built 60 years ago. CalAtlantic Homes categorizes the homes as Plantation, Santa Barbara and California Ranch architectural styles.
