Del Mar, San Diego CA - The San Diego County Fair is a must see in San Diego if you live here or just visiting. The Fair starts on June 11, 2010 and ends on July 5^th. It is closed on June 21^st and June 28^th. The San Diego County Fair is packed with rides, games, food booths, shows, events, entertainers, animals, livestock and the list goes on and on.

This year one of the great fried food attractions was fried butter along with chocolate covered bacon. I’ll pass. There is a great kids are for children wanting to ride little kids rides and lots of walk through exhibits as well. If you get a chance make sure you stop by the San Diego County Fair this year. The San Diego Earth Fair was held at Balboa Park in Downtown San Diego. This Earth Fair marked the 20th year of the event and the 40th anniversary of the first Earth Day. This event usually attracts about 70,000 visitors and covers the entire park. The Downtown San Diego Fair had over 350 exhibits and was spread out nicely across Balboa Park making the crowds seem less than there really was. Some vendors and exhibitors had better real estate than others but the Fair from my experience was a smashing success.

I was expecting to see the event taken over by the GREEN AGENDA but was pleasantly surprised to see most of the booths about nature and many about San Diego nature, wildlife, beaches, oceans and back country. We had to park about 2 miles way and walk in but the day was quite pleasant and who doesn’t love Balboa Park on a nice day. This is an event I would recommend if you get a chance to see it in the future.

Christmas in San Diego wouldn’t be complete without a day at the Hotel Del Coronado. The Hotel Del Coronado located on Coronado Island which is one of the most precious pieces of real estate in San Diego County, always goes all out for the holidays. 2009 was no exception and the Hotel Del was a shining lighthouse in a sea of holiday things to do in San Diego. Parking was $25 at the hotel so we decided to park out on the street which was surprisingly easy to find. Some in our party parked at the hotel and paid the $25 which might seem steep but if you spend the whole day it’s well worth it.

Once we walked onto the hotel grounds the sounds and sights of the holidays were everywhere. The Christmas music from the ice skating rink filled the air and the sight of ice skaters at the beach under the palm trees with the Pacific Ocean in the background was unbelievable. We watched the skaters for a while and then went inside to meet others in our party in the Hotel Del lobby. The lobby was decked out with a huge Christmas Tree and covered with decorations. The lobby itself is impressive with its old world craftsmanship and fine woodwork from an era gone by. It was like stepping back in time 100 years. Once our party arrived we went outside and watched the ice skaters more and then strolled on down to the Coronado Beach.

It was a warm day in Sunny San Diego and surfers were surfing and even a few swimmers dared to take a dip. I thought of the rest of the country and how most were under snow or way too cold to be out walking around in a T-shirt, shorts and flip flops. Oh well, that’s San Diego and how we spend our winters. We went up to the Hotel and ate lunch and were lucky enough to get a seat for all of us overlooking the beach. We spent 4 hours eating, talking and having a great day. Then of course we had to have some Moo Time Ice cream to complete the perfect day.

It was a great day at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego and a Christmas outing we’ll never forget. Christmas 2010 we’ll be at the Del again. Hope to see you there.

Carmel Valley Real Estate 92130 in North County Coastal San Diego has not been hit as hard as most communities of San Diego County and should continue to hold its ground in 2010. The latest stats from October 2009 show that there were 21 homes sold in the month at a median home price of $1,045,000 which is a decline from last year of only 1.2%. Camel Valley had 32 condo sales with a median condo price of $469,000 which is 1.7% less in value from last October. There were 33 new homes sold in Carmel Valley and the median home price was $822,000 which is a decline from last year of 4.4%.

On Thanksgiving Day 2009 there were 158 listings for sale in the San Diego MLS. These are single family detached homes. The median price is $1,275,000 and an average price of $1,682,000. Carmel Valley should show a tick up in 2010. This is an area that does very well and is considered a North County Coastal area that is highly desirable. It’s a community that is close to the beach and one of them being Torrey Pines State Beach and has some great master planned communities. Carmel Valley is also relatively easy to get in and out of  because it is right at the 5 – 56 highway area where traffic is still quite light even in rush hour.
