Pio Pico is a Thousand Trails Campground in Jamul San Diego Just 
east of Chula Vista. Pio Pico is a great RV getaway spot in the San Diego back country. It is located on 180 acres on the old Rancho Jamul and was at one time an Army base and then part of the California Conservation Corps. There are some great amenities including; Restaurant, RV Storage, Sauna, Shuffleboard, Spa, Swimming Pools, Trading Post, Volleyball Court, Wi-Fi Access, Youth Center, Adult Center, Activity Center, Ball Fields, Basketball Court, Horseshoe Pits, Laundry Facilities, Lodge, Mini-Golf, Nature Trails, and Playgrounds.

Some friends called us up and asked us if we wanted to go with them to Pio Pico and we said, O.K. We borrowed their trailer that they kept in storage at Pio Pico and hooked it up to my SUV. It slept 4 comfortably and I got a spot about 200 yards from where they had their RV parked. We had a great weekend and a time I’ll never forget. The kids even had fun and can’t wait to go back. Cookouts and smores on the campfire were two of the great family times we had. We did lots of hiking in the back country that you can read about in my next post.
